Alright guys in the process of doing my h/c swap and I got a quick question.

I bought a LS2 double row timing chain and I was wondering do I have to pull the gear off the crank and put the double gear on it? If so what is the best way to go about doing this?

Sorry if this is a rookie question this is my first swap and I just want to get it right

From my understanding there's no such thing as a double row LS2 chain. The LS2 chain is a single; but is "beefier" than an LS1 chain.

As for your question I have no help for you there. Hopefully someone will chime in.

There is a tool you can buy for less than $20 off fleabay that is made by Kent-Moore. Others have had luck with a puller.

all you need is about a 5 inch two jaw puller.

You may have a double row timing chain that will fit on a LS2 but it is not a GM LS2 timing chain... as the previous poster noted a LS2 timing chain is a single row chain that is more heavy duty than the old LS1 chain ... I know because I have been using LS2 chains for five years now ... I used to work at a Chevy dealer and they were dirt cheep less than $30 ...
