I remember a canvas water bag tied to the passenger side mirror crossing New Mexico and Arizona with my Mom and Dad.

We also had one of those passenger side, window mounted evaporative air consitioner units. Worked great at 60mph ...

First vehicle I ever drove was an International PU with the starter switch on the floor.

I learned to drive on an International L-120, Had the same starter switch on the floor you are talking about. Drove it to high school for a year and a half from late 99-01.
Edit, the starter button was on the dash.

My first car in high school was 1971 Lemans.
With a 4 bbl carb and the air cleaner flipped over and thrush mufflers too
