you can, but the PCM is still gonna perform the shift regardless. If you want to manually shift buy a MANUAl trans! oh also, if you want it to last, dont even drive the car!

The only problem that might come up is when the trans is in manual 1st, the fluid ALSO has to fill the overrun and lo/reverse circuits. Then when you manually shift to 2nd there can be an ever so slight delay in shifting to 2nd. As you are aware of, any delay in shifting results in friction, friction equals heat, heat equals bad. IMO the less circuits the fluid has to fill the better. Now here is the catch22, the overrun and lo/reverse add some support to other internals. Great for burnouts. Somtimes I leave it in OD, other times I like to manually shift it. Just have fun with it and shift under the limiter....ok ok peg the sucker.

Yes it fine to shift manually, However not sure why you would want to? You generally get better results if you let the PCM do the shifting with the proper tune.

I do not believe that you will get that unit to shift manually when you want it to. It would be best to get it tuned to have auto shifts for the optimum shift times and forget about the manual shifts. Not trying to be a $^#& but lets face it, the signal from the computer is much faster and accurate than you are. Vince
