For what goal? Absolute quickest ET without regard to drivability? A good compromize between track and street? Maximum MPG? Stock engine? Heads/cam car? What cam? Etc.... NEED MORE INFORMATION!

I'd use the stock gearing (especially if you have 3.23s to begin with) and a good hard hitting 3500-3800 stall.
I'd recommend a TCI SSF3500 or a Yank SS3800 (maybe an SS3600 if you have 2.73 gears.)

i pulled a 1.66 60 foot with a 3400 stall and 3.42s on a 17 inch drag radial...this combo is GOOD on the street too!
just my opinion, but i think 3.42s are a damn good ratio for an auto street car......plenty of go and no turning ridiculous RPM on the highway...
