I am doing a transmission swap for a friend that has a 95 Chevy 1500 2wd....The 4l60e that he picked up for the swap is out of a 97 tahoe....It came with a different shift arm and shift bracket so i changed those out and put the 95 Stuff into the 97 transmission....after completeing the job the drive shaft is now just a tad bit to long and wont fit...He was told that the transmission would work...So what have i done wrong?

The actual lengths of the trans should be the same I have however seen a couple of the output shafts that were not splined far enough and this will cause the shaft to not go into the trans far enough in a few application . How far will the ypoke slide into the trans?

I went and messured and it will only slide in 3.5 inchs...The other trans will take the whole yoke...Im prolly gonna end up cutting the yoke a tad and make it work...But i was just making sure that i did have the right transmission and that mainly it was gonna work

yes your only solution will be to cut the yoke or change the shaft. Remember though when cutting its not the end of the yoke bottoming out its the splines
