Default 2000 WS6 cat converters out?

I went to the dealer yesterday and they told me that my cat converters are bad and need to be replaced. It is going to be 400 for the pair. I wanted to put headers on it later. I am on a budget right now. What is going to be the cheapest thing to do, buy new cat converters or get a used pair of headers, and still be street legal?

It won't be legal anywhere without cats. Many shops won't install an exhaust without them.

If your broke tell them not to fix them and leave them on. Drive it home lift the car up so you can get under it. Unbolt Y pipe and take a screwdriver or something and clear the "obstruction" out yourself.

If you don't have emissions testing where you live then you don't need them for that so you CAN remove them.

Basically it depends on where you live.

how many miles are on the car, I know they put out a bullitin about the cats going bad and increased their orginal coverage. don't know what it is you may want to look into it though.

I would just gut the cats especially if you are going to be putting on headers in the future.

I think they are covered up to 80k but I'm not positive, I'd look into it. Mine were replaced twice but that was under 30k. I just delt with the light, the car ran fine. I however just put lt's on the car and still have the cats but 1 is bad... not sure if you would be interested
