AC cuts out
Anyone experience their AC "cutting out" or not blowing cold when downshifting/driving hard with the AC on? I barely heard the belt squeal once over my exhaust... but I know that the belt is slipping when I drive hard/downshift and rev high with the AC on. I know this because the AC will stop blowing ice cold for a few seconds and will resume blowing freezing cold air once I start to drive more casually again.
Belt looks new and appears to be in good shape.
Could the tensioner spring be worn/old? Car has low miles but its still a '98.
Is this common?
Would replacing the AC belt tensioner fix this?
Not a huge problem but thoroughly annoying. And yes, I know..."turn the AC off when your driving spiritedly..." well its creeping up on 100 degrees here lately. Too damn hot not to have the AC on!

Don't worry. Our compressors automatically turn off if you go WOT. Its a built in protection for the compressor getting over'rpm'ed.
I don;t know if this is accurate, forgot where I heard it, but I think whenever you go around 85%-90% throttle, it turns off.
Regardless of the %....that is what happens.
Your good.
