Tommy Costales @ Houston Engine and Balancing - I had a '73 Grandeville with the same motor and he turned it into a beast! (If a 5000 lb car can be called that...) - all I know I sure spent alot of money on tires for the rear of that thing.....

455's are great! Lots of torque. Go to the Performance Years Forum for lots of info on Pontiac-related stuff. Very easy to get 450 horse out of a 455. Edelbrock heads or Kaufmann Racing heads with a good cam will give you some good, reliable power. Here's the link to the PY forum:

There's also Owens Racing; I've talked to two or three people from the PY forums and they've had good experiences with their Ponchos and Owens. You/your dad might also want to check out this book: http://www.amazon.com/How-Build-Perf.../dp/1884089674

Everyone I know that owns a Pontiac has that book.

Also, this is a good article on a Pontiac 400 build: http://www.highperformancepontiac.co...ine/index.html

I know it's not a 455 but it has some good info that might help to familiarize you with these Pontiac engines (455s and 400s are the same block).

All good info above. The 455 is perfect for the Grandville. Just make sure that whoever builds it DOES KNOW Pontiac. PY is a great site as well, there is a guy there that races a 74 455 Grandville 4550 lbs 12.08 E.T.. 110.86 MPH...60 ft 1.71 Fun stuff with a big car like that!

Houston Engine and Balancing. Built two motors (one mild and one high HP) motors for the GTO race car. one was a stock blocked 462 that made about 600HP and the other was a 512 IA2 blocked motor that makes 900hp. Butler Performance is a good place for parts Also
