anyone ever have problems with there A4 sticking in Park?? In the mornings
car is really hard to get out of Park, the button is stiff, feels like my foot is not on the brake. I've switched the cable that goes from the brake to the shifter what else could it be?? any work arounds??

Are you parked on a hill, I think the 4l60e has torque shift which makes it harder to shift while on a hill.

If you're on a hill, this is what the manual refers to as torque lock. Put the parking (E) brake up and try it, if you haven't already.

My car has started doing the same thing. It's only hard to shift in the morning or if it's cold out. I'm stumped on what it could be.

my friends 95 Z28 is like that....he sometimes (actually usually) has to yank the shifter out of park (only park the other gears are fine) with two hands.....dunno y????

I thought the problem might have been torque lock after reading the post title. After reading the actual post, it sounds like something else. I had an A4 LS1 and it never did that. The button being stiff puzzles me.

i had a 95 v6 and had the same problem, sometimes it would work fine, but just being cold, and on a flat surface it would not go into gear, i always carried a flathead in the car with me, lift up the plastic piece over the shifting mechanism, mash the button on the shifter, use the flathead to pry the little lever thingy, once u see whats goin on, u will know exactly what to do, i never got a new one, just dealt with it, after i started doing this, it would only happen like 2 times a month, and i sold the car, and the guy has only had the problem once, hope this helps

Car is not on a hill and it is only when its cold, it takes both hands to push the button in the first time...very strange, i may try and bypass the cable that goes to the brake, but that just sucks, already had a mechanic look at it and he had no ideas either..

I don't know if its of any help, but I had an aftermarket shift **** and had similar problems. The button would not go in so that the shifter could be pulled out of park. It got progresively worse, so that eventually the car could not be taken out of park at all. I had to yank the shift **** off and drive home without one. I put the factory **** back on, and the problem was solved.

It would be easy to test if this is your problem as well. Just remove the clip on the front of the shift **** with a flat-tip screwdriver and remove the shift ****. If you can push down on the stalk that the **** pushes down on, then you know that the **** is the problem...if not--at least you've eliminated one possibility. Just a thought.

its inside your shifter.something not engaging right.might need to be lubricated or not lined up right.check everything to make sure.

Thx..I'll try that, I also have noticed a click noise under the brake pedal when i push the button. It seems to be a little better but not 100%, think the new cable just needs a little time
