Default HVAC Problem - "Vent" air is warmer than the outside temp

When my car is up to temperature, the air coming out of my vents (with the AC off) is much warmer than the outside air.

I've checked the Air Inlet Vacuum Actuator (which controls the re-circulation of air in the cabin) and the Temperature Control Cable and Valve. All are in perfect working order and adjustment. (All doors appear to be seating perfectly - as far as I can tell from the outside of the ducts.)

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm looking for any ideas to correct before I go ripping ducts out, etc. I assume that somehow air is bleeding by the heater core, but it seems its not one of the "easy" causes.

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

I'm thinking it may be related to where the air inlet is.

Can anyone assist with where outside air is pulled in to the system? I don't see a description in the factory service manual and can't see any inlets through the engine compartment and dash clutter.

I always thought it was heat from the engine bay and pavement that makes it hotter before it enters the cabin.

Wait till tonight, go for a ride and see if its alot cooler.
