ls6 cam in ls1

Not really . Now if you had a 5.3 then the gain would be noticable. You would gain a little but not enough to warrant all of the time and expenses. I would just save up a little more and get a good performance cam. Plus even if your just running the ls6 cam you will still have to upgrade the valve springs.

unless you already have the the motor ready to put a cam in even if it's free I still wouldn't bother with the time and expense. If you do it yourself you will need to by springs, valve cover gaskets, crank bolt, timing cover and water pump gaskets, while your in there if you have over 75k miles I'd change the pump to an ls6 pump and a new timing chain, plus the tools to change the valve springs in the car. It's just a lot of work and money for like maybe 10-15rwhp

bout 20 hp to the tire.....if the car has never been tuned you may see a little more...i picked one up a while back to put in a 5.3 had 160 in the cam and springs......hp per dollar i say its worth it.....a cam is simple to change in these engines...

I love how people throw #'s around...
To op.. find someone selling their stock stuff of a c5z06 (heads AND cam) for about 500-600 bucks and make yourself 380-400hp for pennies on the dollar if you're trying to go cheap. You wouldn't even necessarily need tuning. Good luck!

Isn't that what the op asked for? I'm not just pulling numbers outta my ***. This is what I've seen on this forum and in the real world. I had a friend who offered me his 02 ls6 cam back in the day for my '98 TA. The sponsor on this site that I called told me what numbers to expect and if I did do it he would like my '98 cam as it is the hotter version of all the f body cams that came in our cars from the factory.

It would be 400 at the flywheel not rear wheels. Ifyou do desire to go this route then be sure to get the setup from an 02 or newer as the previous years have different valves and a slightly smaller cam. I would give a vendor a call and get their input since this is their job and they see first hand what the results are. Give TSP, Thunder Racing, or vengence racing a call. These are thevendors that I deal with the most and they will give you an honest answer.

2002 ls6 cam = 218*/204* - .550"/.550", 117.5 lsa
01-02 f-body cam = 197*/202* - .467"/.479", 116 lsa
98-00 f-body cam = 202*/210* - .496"/.496", 116 lsa
GM Hot cam = 219*/228* - .525"/.525", ? lsa
I personaly would go with somthing a little bigger. As stated earlier, check out Thunder racing and Tsp.

Looking at your cam choices, LS6 cam and then the MS4.....do you really know what you want? Because those 2 cams are night n day different. I had a LS6 cam with my twin turbo setup. It sounded bone stock, no lope. Ive also ran the G5X4 with my last H/C setup which is very similar to the MS4 and the G5X4 is a mid range, high RPM racing cam. It was fun on the street. I wouldnt want to use it in my daily driver though. Definately would want 4:10 gears with the X4.

I had an LS6 cam way back in 01 with stock heads , mac mids, and a small stall. It would pull 6 speed cars on the very top end on the street. It was worth a tenth or 2 at the track. Its a nice little gain for cheap, but more work work then its worth. Car will sound and idle like stock.

I had the entire ls6 package + pulley that's the best dame set up if you wanna fool the guy you r racing he will never see it coming personal i think if you add a good stall and a tune you will most likely see 12.00's but like i said in the before i like the zo6 package because of the fact if i have to burn gas it won't be much i have a 224 cam now it drink gas like a hoe at a party.
