How to Check a 4L60E Tranny Fluid level?

How to Check a 4L60E Tranny Fluid level?

Ok What Reading should I use?I get home from work leave my motor running in park check trans fluid and it's just barley on the dipstik?Wipe it off stick it back in check it again and it's over full

Should I go by the first reading?

My understanding is when the car is running, on flat and level ground. Thats in the manual....

That is correct. The stick will have have two spots on it. One is for when the fluid is warm. One is for when the fluid is hot.

Yes I am quite aware of this,But When I pull the dipstick out the first time to check it it shows low,If i wipe the Dipstick and check it a second time it shows that I have to much.I don't get it?
