Default What RPMs are shift points on 97 LT1 Auto?

I installed a used tranny today and everything felt fine as far as shifting goes and all gears work. Now when I punched it and it downshifted, it went to redline without shifting back up. I backed off once I got to 5500 RPM. So should it have downshifted by then or did I let off too soon?

I also have some misfiring too that I have to tackle tomorrow so it took a little longer than usual to get there.

get the driveability issue fixed....a driveability issue willaffect the performance of the transmission since it is electronically controlled....also shift points are set by the PCM not the tranny or i should say not an electronic tranny

Yeah, I'm gonna change the plug wires next couple days. I hear a ticking down below, driver side, but no arcing in the dark. I also noticed a kinda hard shift 1-2, but all others are silky smooth.
