Default 10 bolt Dif cover change questions.

I have a few mods and was wondering a few things, I have 4.10 gears that have gotten a little worse in whine over time...So I wanted to throw on a TA Cover.....My car is a 98 do I have the auburn and need the additive?

Also Im making ~400 to the wheels with a adj Torque Arm...any recommendations for a pinion angle..I am currently at 2*

As far as I know you more then likely have a torsen diff. No additive needed as its an all gear posi with no clutches. Keep in mind a TA cover isnt going to fix a failing rear end, maybe you should freshen it up while you have it opened up.

ya the ta cover is just for some support. if your rear is already going i would check it out and if possible fix the problem if your goin to open it up. but after the fix you could throw one on there.

Open it up and look. That wont change the repair procedure though. It will be the same no matter what kind of posi you have.

i have a 98ws6 also, and it came with the auburn. When you open it up, you can see yellow springs in the center of the diff, if i remember correctly.

I got rid of mine after it wore out like 5 years ago, so i can't just look at it to give you any better idea

Maybe they do vary, but mine had an auburn, and is a 98, I was just making that point, thats all. I'm at work, and alot of pictures are blocked from here, but you could probably find some pics of the two, and figure out which one you have.

If you've got something funny going on in the rear, you need to take care of it. Two weeks ago i noticed a gritty feeling when I spun my wheels (was changing tires), I thought/hoped it was just some rust in the drums that was catching on the shoes. Two days later I drove the car and kaboom, now i'm stuck trying to rebuild this thing.

yellow springs = posi additive
no yellow springs = no posi additive
