OK, so you send in your custom cam specs for a new cam. How close to the specs can they grind a cam too? Can they not hit the specs? Do they not check the cam after it's done to make sure it's right? I find it hard to believe that any cam grinder does not have some kind of quality control and after you pay top dollor for a custom cam that you now have to have someone else check it?

I don't know what Comp does at the factory as far as QC but I paid the $25 or whatever it was to have my custom cam from them put on a cam doctor which measures the exact specs. FWIW I ordered a 231/235 .617"/.624" cam that the specs came out to be closer to 232/237 .615"/.619" which is pretty darn close. Of course it was supposed to be a 113+4 but installed dot to dot was about 2-3 deg off which is why it's best to degree your cam when you install it.

I just called up Geoff at EPS and had a nice talk with him a couple of times about what I have, and want from my car and then he suggested some cam spec's, which he had ground for me. It's a 222(.596)intake, 243(.601)exhaust, 115lsa+3. And I've got the CAM PRO PLUS Lift Report with it, but I really don't know what I'm looking at to verify the specs.

The big question is what happens if you have a cam doctor report and it shows it's not to the specs you asked for? Do they say too bad, it's close enough? This is un-real to pay for something and not get it.
how many people on this forum have done this and the cam not come back to specs?
