Dim headlights and no brights?

Dim headlights and no brights? So the other day I took my headlight motor out, and reinstalled it after replacing my stripped gear..
Plugged up the actual bulbs and then checked to see if they work. My drivers side dims are very very dim.. and my drivers side brights cause both of that side's lights to completely go out.
What could be the cause?
