Bottle pressure questions
Using the 150 jets, how much does your bottle pressure drop during a run? I am new to nitrous, so I don't know whats to be expected. Tonight I raced my friends 02 Z06 (LG longtubes, no cats, and G5X1 cam) against my 99 FRC which has a catback, clutch, and a 150 shot. The bottle pressure started at 950psi....and for some reason it wouldn't rise any higher (i had done a test run an hour earlier and it got up to 1050 psi).... anyway, we raced from a 40mph 2nd gear roll. I jumped an instant 5 feet on him through 2nd, through 3rd gear he pulled back even, then to about 120mph in 4th he but about 3 feet on me. A the end of that run the bottle pressure had dropped to 700psi. What gives?! Is my bottle getting low? Which is another question... how many runs should I get on my 15lb bottle with 100-150 jets? I have made about 3 passes with the 100 shot, and about 3 with the 150 shot... and its possible my bottle is getting low already? What is the empty and full weights of a 15lb bottle?

I run a 150 shot and only get 3 runs out of it before I refill it. After the bottle gets to be about 5 or 6 pounds of nitrous, the bottle pressure drops tremidously and you will need to get it topped off.

Not long. Maybe 10 or 11 secs. Anyway...bottle heaters are trash, they drain your battery and take too damn long to heat the bottle up. I just use a blow torch and all is good. 10lb bottle BTW.

LOL...I wasnt being serious about the whole NX comment. You people crack me up. I go to the track maybe once a month. Although I would love to have a hotbox, I just dont have the funds. Damn, I dont even have the money to buy another bottle. I tried using the NX Bottle heater and it seems to work faily well but kills your battery quick and takes a while to build pressure if your low on nitrous(5-6 pounds).

Gee, how do you figure it kills your battery??
People have used torches for many many years.. The only time it makes me nervous is when I see racers HOLD the flame in one place on the bottle .. If you move the flame around continuously, it never even gets hot to the touch. Less heat, in fact, than a bottle heater.

Remind me never to be next to you in the pits. A safer way (With no funds) is to dip the N2O bottle in a bucket with hot , hot water same effect no metal weakening or stretching.

i have always put the bottle in the kitchen sink or my utility sink and run it under hot water to get the pressure up before a night of racing or before going to the track.. then use the warmer to keep the pressure up.. I also use a blanket to keep the warmth in... my bottle is really hard to keep up pressure due to it being carbon fiber... as long as the torch is kept moving and you heat the bottle evenly you are fine... not recommended but you can do it... if you get black soot marks or get one area warmer than the rest it will degrade the bottle over time and you can experience an explosion...
