Default 5.3 Truck Intake to an LS1 or LS6 intake.

Anyone have a ballpark number on the power gain from the intake alone? How poorly so the truck intakes flow up top, and where will it fall flat?

I don't know what engine you are running but FYI the ls1 intake won't clean the truck accesories. But to answer the question I read in a article a few years ago that the "big ugly" flowed really well.

The truck intake really outflows the LS1 intake by about 20 cfm up top. The LS6 intake does better than the truck intake by about 10 cfm if I remember correctly.

I have been wandering were the truck intake falls off especially since I am shifting around 6600 rpms. It doesnt feel like I am out of the power curve yet either but who knows.

If you read around, most guys at performancetruck.net especially, it seems like its not worth the extra effort if you are going for more power. If you need hood clearance then thats a different story.

Thanks everyone, and Cutlass_455 had a great link to Hot Rod that answered almost all my questions on intakes.

I have an 06 Tahoe. I am dropping an LS1 out of a 98 Vette in there with the 5.3 truck heads, a mild cam, and headers. I wanna just put the 5.3 intake and accessories all back on it and drop it in and go. Sound like the easiest way to go, but not if the truck intake is super restrictive, or if it kills power real early in the revs.
