Big lopey cams..question?
I have a question for all of the cammed guys out there.
What actually causes a "rough idle" so rough it sounds like the car is about to shut off?
Example.
My cam is going to be a: 238/244 .658/.666 112 LSA.
I realize the lift is a little extreme, but thats just what happened, and im happy and fine with that. but the duration isnt all that extreme neither is the LSA...im guessing it will sound something close to an MS3 or F14 cam....will the ultra high lift have a big effect on the lopeness other than the duration/lsa?? Thanks for all of the info.

Hey Blackhawk, somewhat kidding. 17 degrees overlap is mighty healthy. I know my 10 degrees is what I would consider 'moderately aggressive'.
Real quick on your question. There is a good lope sound from overlap, but a rough idle where it sounds like it is about to die on you, is not what you want. If your tune is spot on and holds idle, it should sound more like a Nascar stock car. Very noticeable lope..sort of a spitting sound.
Let us know how it goes. How high are you going to be revving that engine? Should be fun on the track.
Good luck.

Man, I must be getting old. A 238/244 cam is not that 'extreme'.
