GM USED gearset backlash spec? Can't find anything concrete
Hey guys, I'm installing a used (15kmile) set of GM 3.42's, a direct swap for my blown rearend (replacing diff also).
Anyway, everywhere I look, I see different specs, and can't find anything "official" I've seen to set it for different ranges like 4-6, 5-9, 6-9, 8-10or12 (in thousandths of course).
Then I've seen a couple threads about setting up used gears a little more loose. I can't find my Helms manual, and my initial setup puts me at about .0095"
So does someone know what we should really be aiming for, for USED and/or NEW GM gearsets?
I'll keep digging, but like I said, can't find anything too official

this looks like it may be the most "official" that i've found so far, calls for .005-.009 and for GM gears

Since I have a used gearset, do you guys think I should modify this number a little bit? currently just over .009, and I felt that the pattern looked pretty decent, but I have to reset pinion preload and replace carrier shims, then recheck.
