Default How important is the Tunnel Brace?

I just installed an SLP Y-pipe which doesn't clear the tunnel brace. I just left it off for now. Is it really needed? I have boxed subframe connectors but I also have t-tops, so I'm wondering about body flex without the use of an aftermarket brace.

Thanks.

I haven't had mine on in probably 5 years. Most people ditch them to save the 3lbs in weight. This may not answer your question of how important they are, but I haven't heard anyone's car falling apart because they didn't have one.

Mines been off for over 8 years. Most people I know take them off. Due to aftermarket exhaust not fitting. Leave it off, you're good to go.
