'56 Chevy - brake booster too big...what to do?
My 8" brake booster hits the motor and not sure what to do. Looked at the hydroboost systems which are slick but way too much money. I don't want manual brakes. What have others done?

I've heard of people shifting the master/booster over a couple inches and rework the linkage but I've seen none of these.
I remember seeing years ago that Mopar had a bracket that did this for some of the Mopar cars.
It's a thought.

CPP (classic performance products) makes a brake booster bracket assembly, that moves the booster up and over towards the drivers side, for this reason. I did a '56 150 sedan last year, and used this bracket. Worked out well, contact CPP, i think their in orange county, CA somewhere. Danchuck sells it also, here is a link to the PDF catalog, booster offset bracket is on page 183, section page 10. Works good! http://www.danchuk.com/images/Downlo...and_Wheels.pdf

Hydro boost is cheap if you source it right. They sell new ones on ebay for $75 on up. I used one from an Astro van from U-Pull-A-Part for $40. HOWEVER, the lines and fittings can add up quickly if you're using power steering and factory lines from another application can't be used.

The astro van and late model truck hydro boost might be the way to go. Some of the 6.0L had hydroboost and the only difference in the PS pumps is the returns have two fittings.
But I plan to run HB on mine.
