Exclamation need help bad plz help

putting together my 408 and when u get everything together and get the harmonic all the way down u cant turn the motor at all but u can back off the balancer a lil and it turns its binding on something but idk what any ideas plz help i have a double roller timing chain from tsp ported ls6 oil pump as well idk what to do im going back at it tomorrow any help would be awesome

do you have the bolts for the front cover tight? the only thing i can think of, from what u described, is the balancer is binding up on the front cover.

no its not binding against the cover idk im wondering if its somehow binding against the oil pump idk for sure but its frustrating as hell

here is my full set up short block built by tsp tsp giant cam 248/254 .612/.624 112lsa patriot stage 3 ls6 heads fast 92/92 tsp double roller timinig set tsp ported oil pump stock harmonic balancer 7.400 chromonly hardened rods stock rockers plz help if anyone has had this problem let me know i cant even get the balancer all the way in its sits maybe an 1/8 of an inch from being all the way back and u cant turn the motor at all i even tried turning from the flywheel once u back off the balancer just a hair u can turn it

I had a similar problem when I was assembling my motor... I made the stupid mistake of putting a bolt out of place in the oil pump. The longer bolt that I had put in was too long and would hit the crank, not allowing it to turn when I gave it a test-spin. Maybe...?

its a posibility but it seems to have something to do with the balancer im confused and frustrated il know more tomorrow but keep the advice coming any ideas would be helpful

first and foremost im an IDIOT... ok now thats out of the way


when i installed the oil pump i put it on first and slide the guide gear on after... which means i put it on backwards bc it is supposed to fit the other way now it is on properly and nothing besides my pride is hurt... i knew it would be a learning experience building my motor i just didnt know i would learn that im retarded no offense to real retards
