Would 275's give noticable deductions on 60' over 245s?

Default Would 275's give noticable deductions on 60' over 245s?

Like we all learned in physics, the coefficient of friction only has to do with the materials and how much force is pushing them togethor. With a wider tire, there is not more in contact with the road, the contact patch just has a more rectangular than boxed area. So would 275 street tires at 30-32psi really give noticable traction off the line? I'm debating on going with 245s again or 275s of the same tire (since I know the tire design would matter more than the width)

The 275s are 3 lbs more each than the 245s and if there isn't more traction than I'll stick with my 245s especially since 275s are supposed to be mounted on 9.0-11.0 rims and I have 8.5". Thanks.

Why aren't you buying DRs? With your mods you will need DRs to hook....and once you get a stall it will be even worse.

From adding width alone, no. If you put 2 100% flat pieces on top of each other and try to slide the top one off it will be VERY hard to move, that is how you get traction. DR's mold better to the surface which causes them to hook better. If you put a 275 DR on it will hook, if you put a 275 street radial on, it won't hook any more, especially at 30psi. You can make the car hook by adding a different compound or a significantly heavier wheel, which will only get you so far.
