Default 5.3 Valley cover when going carbed?

I have a 2000 5.3 engine that I will be installing the Edelbrock performer carb intake with the MSD programmable spark box. What should I do concerning the knock sensors and valley cover area. I have tried to read up on the EGR issues, but there is alot of different applications out there that don't seem consistent. Should I not use my knock sensors at all, and use a later model valley cover or LS6 version without the knock sensor holes? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The MSD box doesn't have the wiring to hook up the knock sensors. I keep the LS1 cover, removed the knock sensors and used some RTV on the rubber plugs and put them back in the hole so it wasn't open.

If I could find a 2004 or later valley cover, I think those don't have the knock sensor holes. I think sometime GM moved the knock sensors out of the valley and to the sides of the block. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but is that also an option? I did find out the LS6 still has the knock sensor holes, just a different EGR setup.
