Default auto newb!! newb ?'s

ok so all i know about auto's is put it in drive and go to work. I have a 6 speed car and it's starting to get old. always bleeding the damn slave, trying to get out the hole with out bogging, turbo not staying spooled during shifts.

anyways, my goal with the car is to pull tire, not looking to do this right now but some day. since my clutch is going out I figured now would be a good time to swap to an auto.

I have been doing some reading on it, and I think i'm going to try a 4l80e. I have found a couple local, however while reading up I have yet to see what year tranny i need. does it matter? how do I know if it is a 4l80?

like I said newb ?'s I'm sure, but any help will be great. I'm going back to the stickies now.

go for the newest one you can, 97 up is good-as far as id'ing it, you could search for a pic, i just know what they look like-i think the tag on the side might tell, their big and heavy, longer than a 400, large pan-i would have to look at my spare and see what it says on it
