Default 245x45x16s to 275x40x18s

Last time I went to the track I had 245x45x16 on my car. Now I have 275x40x18s on it now. Do ya'll think its gonna hurt me at the being that its a taller tire with stock 273 gears. If it dont rain thursday Iam going to the track to try to get a better time. Since I put on SLP Lid,K&N Filter,Smooth Bellow. This time Iam gonna run with the traction control off.

Do ya think the 2" taller tire now isnt gonna mess with me that much.

What can I do to make more room on the front part of thr inner fenderwell They rub here and there when I have a passenger in the car.Its the back I have 18x9.5 C5 wheels on my car. Can I hit the inner fenderwell with a sledhammer or a hammer to give it more room..I dont want to run spacers. Thanks Jimmy.

i went from a 245 to a 275/40/18. i really cant notice anything as far as speed but it still went 8.7 in the 1/8 with exhaust and the z06 rims with 2.73 gears.
i wonder why your rubbing with a 275 i never rub and i know many people who dont with a 275. but yeah you can beat it with a hammer a lot of guys on here do that to fit like a 315 tire

Since I put 30psi in the tires they didnt rub at all today with my mom in the car. They had18-20psi in them when they rubed here and there with a passenger. But the tire is real close to the innerfenderwell still. I cant fit a finger between the tire and the front part of the innerfenderwell.

How much room do you have in the front part of the tire to the innerfenderwell.

No I dont now but the carfax came back clear. Iam gonna goout there now to see if the rear is centerd in the car. Since I put 30psi in the tires they havent rubed at all even with a passenger. how much air should I run in theses tires.

That's a pretty big difference. With that tall of a rear end gear, even with the new lid and increased section width, I think the increased overall gear ratio and unsprung weight increase is going to cause you to see a slightly slower time than before but that's just a guess. It really depends how much the new tires help your 60 foot time from before.

Also I'm not sure why you are rubbing. Lowered? Don't use a sledge hammer or claw hammer. Use a dead blow hammer if you don't want to ruin your fenderwalls

I dont think its lowerd. But since I pit 30psi in the tires they havent rubbed once even with a passenger. The tires had 18-20psi before when they would rub here and there with a passenger..Last time I went to the track was my very first time down the track in a car ever. I ran with the traction control on..Here is what my time slip was....

Tomorrow Iam gonna go back if its not raining. This time Iam gonna run with traction control off and I put SLP Lid,K&N Airfilter, SLP Smooth Bellow on the car.I heard from a couple people that traction control slows the car down.
