Behind the rear seat, the carpet is perforated, right below the seat latches. You simply pull the perforated area open, lift out the chunk of foam below it and unbolt the top (of course, the car needs to be supported on jackstands and the axle needs supported as well, or it will drop and hang by the brake lines which could cause the line to fail under pressure). Then, simply unbolt them from the axle and pull them down out of the rear mounts. It's that easy.

If you have trouble finding the rear mounts, drop me a pm, I'll kick my seat down and take a picture for you, just send me an e-mail address.

Good luck!

Al,

Good thought. I actually just gently pulled mine open by hand, but a sharp knife would be a good idea (I seem to take the Neanderthal approach sometimes).

Son of a bitch!!! I tore out most of the rear interior plastic to pull up the entire carpet to get my rear shocks swapped out. It only took about half an hour to do, but this sounds like it should have taken me all of 5 minutes. And I was thinking it'd be a bitch when I wanted to adjust my rear shocks again. Guess I should have asked first. Grrrr.
