Hydraulic roller lifter advise needed.
What's a good hydraulic roller lifter to use in a 383 roller block, with a 560 lift cam? How adequate are the factory roller lifters? What aftermarket lifters do you like? How reliable is the factory retainer and spider, or is the link bar type of lifter a better choice in a performance motor?

I have beat the ever loving dog snout out of factory lifters without a problem. BUT, there are cams out there that grind a low base and can make the stock lifter drop too low under the dog bone, but i have never run into that problem yet.
Hell, factory LS1 lifters are the same as the 87-99 lifters and they go over 7000 RPM, so what does that tel you.

if you dont trust stock lifters, i run cheap doug herbert hyd. roller lifters and had absolutley no problem. started out in a nitrous motor and now running them in a all motor 500 hp 385. they are the horizontal bar style... i think they are 400 bucks but you wont need to buy another set again...

zones89rs,
Do the LS lifters use the dogbone retainer too? I keep asking because I have never actally seen a LSx insides before.
The only factory roller I have ever even messed with is a 305 that a guy gave me with a cracked block on the outside of the water jacket.
I have a prepped 350 factory roller block with 4bolt mains that has all the previsions for all the factory roller parts that I want to build.
