wheels for a 4'' narrowed rear.
i may be getting a rear that is 4'' narrow than stock(2'' on each side) and i'm trying to figure out if i should get the rear lengthened to accept factory size wheels, or if i should just get wheels that are sized for this rear because i don't want to run spacers. i want to run 17x9 or 9.5'' but i need to know what backspacing and offset to get. i've tried searching, but never got a straight up answer. i'd like to get some black AR rebels if they come in the size i'll need. any help will be appreciated, thanks!
also, i've clearanced my wheel wheel wells to fit 17x11's with 315's at one time, and they never scrubbed, so i have a little more room than stock right now.

A 17x9 "ss" wheel has a 7in back space (its 6.9xx but considered 7)
A 16x8 ls/lt factory wheel is also 7in (tucks in 1in further than the ss wheel)
Typical recommendation for aftermarket 10in wheel is 7.5in, an 8in wheel is 5.5in
So if your narrowed 2in per side and you want a 10in wheel you would need a 5.5in BS, 3.5in BS with an 8in wheel.
Both the 10 and 8 inch wheel will be a 1/2 inch closer to the fender lip than a 17x9 'SS' wheel. They sit just inside the fender edge.
Edit: Offset and backspace go hand in hand, if one is correct the other will be as well.

Just remember that the 10in is gonna be the least tolerant to back space variation. As you decrease rim width you can mess with back space more. Example an 8in rim will work with a BS range of 5.5-7 inches on a stock width rear. 3.5-5 inches on your narrowed rear.

if you don't mind not being able to rotate your wheels from front to back
then go with the narrowed rear.
there are alot of advantages for going with the narrow rearend.
better choice for 15" drag wheels
rear wheel will have more wheel lip
axles are stronger and lighter
less rotating mass
btw I have new pair of Moser 9" axles for sale
they are for a 4" narrowed Moser 9" rearend housing.
