Advice on cam to choose Hey guys, I am about to start bumping up the Hp's in my 99 camaro ss and thought I would get your advice first. The car is ready for power but needs to maintain semi daily drivable attributes. I just installed the Moser 12 bolt (4.10) , custom steel driveshaft, Edlebrock Long tubes, y-pipe, cut-out, SLP flowpack intake with K&N, SLP MAF, Rebuilt transmission, LS7 clutch, flywheel, pilot and throw-out bearing (Slave cylinder too obviously), was tuned about a year ago, sub-frame connectors, Adjustable LCA, and other suspension and brake work. The new rear seems like its slowing me down a bit. Ideally I would like over 400 horses and still daily drive it. I am not sure how long it will be a daily driver but i can't look too far ahead just yet. Any advice on what cam to choose??? I want to hear how they run on already cammed Daily drivers. Thanks for any advice

Well you have a good foundation with the built rear end and tranny. Something that will maintain good street manners but still put up good numbers I think would be the G5X1. LG motorsports' cam series. Proven performers, and will still drive great on the street. Specs are 228/232. Don't get caught up in the dick measuring contest of buying huge cams.

A good tuner can take any of the recommended cams above and make them drive very smoothly. All the suggestions are on the right track. Bigger cams are fine for track only cars or hardcore weekend warriors, but anything that needs to start and run smoothly 7 days a week can get old in a hurry if your get caught up in the giant cam fad.
