About time to start thinking about h/c/i for 404
I have a 404 ls2 and I think it is about time to start thinking about h/c/i for it. I currently am running torquer v3, ls1 heads, and ls6 intake. I wanted to wait to make the decisions correctly.
I would like this to make a lot of n/a power and still have the ability to spray. I don't want to be sacrificing low end torque and efficiency too much just to have to rev it to the moon. Also, I feel the lift on the torquer v3 is a bit too high on lift.
I am on a budget and I want to do this with a good bang to buck ratio.
I am thinking to get l92 heads as they are cheap and can make power. Then a fast 90/90 (does this fit on the l92s or do i have to go 92/92?), and a bit bigger cam with less lift.
I think that project can be done relatively cheap and will have some good results.

Ive seen some great numbers/times with cars runing l92 heads but i would only get ported ones. With those heads you wouldnt be able to run a fast 90 or 92 you would have to get the new fast 102 for ls3/l92 heads cause of the rectangle port or an l76 intake which i believe is $300 or so scoggin dickey has them. There was a trans am in gm high tech that went 9s n/a on a 440 with l92 heads and l76 intake so they can be fast. Oh and i would defintly get a custom cam made if you go with those heads i dont think cams made for ls1 style heads would work well with l92 heads.

I'd love to see some track times for a stroker with L92 heads. I've read MANY people talk about how great a bang for the buck head they are but have found very few people with time slips or dyno number that run them. Most of the big number, low time guys run AFR or TFS or some ported version of the LS6 head. I have seen a few guys running L92s but none that have put up what the two big boys have.

I agree with the others, get some L92 heads and have them ported and then have someone spec you out a custom cam. Either intake will get the job done but obviously the new FAST is the better flowing option, but comes at a much higher cost.
The best option IMO is for you to get a rear first so we can go heads up from a dig

PM with the specs on your current short-block and I'll see what we can come up with for you. We can get you setup with a cam to meet your goals and match it up with a set of PRC heads to match. We offer both CNC ported L92 cylinder heads as well as ported LS6 and 6.0L cathedral port heads. We also have the PRC 227cc and 237cc aftermarket casting heads available. These are the same heads that are on our current heads/cam record car! Shoot me some details and we'll get you setup!
Thanks!
