A Few Gen IV 6.0 Questions
Ok, my original plan was to do a 5.3 swap. Then I decided to wait and find a Gen III 6.0, now I see the Gen IV 6.0's have L92 heads. So, Im tryin to decide which 6.0 I want. For those who dont know, Ill be runnin a carb on whatever motor I land on.
1. What all is involved in deleting VVT?
2. Will I just hafta extend the wires from my MSD box to meet the cam sensor in front?
3. Should the LY6 be cheaper than the L76 since it iron, or do they typicly go for about the same price?
4. Since the L92 heads are so cheap, would it be more cost effective to just pick up a Gen III 6.0 then swap the heads later?
I had a few more questions, but they slipped my mind so Ill start with these lol.

This is why I just got a LY6. Great heads from the FACTORY. I am going to keep the VVT and stock cam for now. I'd try for the LY6 vs. L76. The LY6 doesn't have DOD and doesn't require replacing the collasable lifter as the L76 does. (providing you delete it)
When I got my LY6 for $1400.00, I had a chance to buy three other LY6s. Two @ $1600.00. And the last one was approx $2100.00 if I recall correctly.

I didnt realize the L76 had DOD. O prally wont be goin with one of those then.
Did you get a complete engine for 1400 or what? Thats outa my budget, but then again Im just lookin for a short block with heads, water pump, and acc brakets at this point.

1. What all is involved in deleting VVT? Removing the VVT from the front of the cam and blocking the ports for oil I believe and tuning it out.
2. Will I just hafta extend the wires from my MSD box to meet the cam sensor in front? Yes and extend the knock sensors as they are on the side with the Gen IV's
3. Should the LY6 be cheaper than the L76 since it iron, or do they typicly go for about the same price? They are about hte same depends on who has it
4. Since the L92 heads are so cheap, would it be more cost effective to just pick up a Gen III 6.0 then swap the heads later? Most likely

But, like I said, if it would be cheaper to just buy an LQ9 and sell my Patriots for some L92's, then Ill do that.

Ill be swapin this into a late 80's S10 or Blazer. Ill end up with an electric water pump eventually. So I gotta find some acc brackets and a belt to run just the alternator and power steering (if the chasis I end up with even has PS).
As far as the heads, what do you think? Would the Patriots be too much? In my other thread you advised that I stick with a 2.0 intake valve on the 5.3, but now Im dealin with more displacement.
