need help with wierd emergency brake issue

Default need help with wierd emergency brake issue

so i go to pull in the car into the garage recently and go to pull up the emergency brake and it felt so easy to pull up and it went straight up into like a 90 degree angle. has this ever happend to anyone before? what do you think the problem is?

Drop it back down and try again?

Mine does that sometimes. Something is worn out/broken but not sure what yet. As it is, it barely grabs the wheels when it does tighten up. Sticks straight up. Gotta work on that.

This happens when you change rear rotors and don't re-adjust the brakes to the new bore of the rotor. (There are two adjusting wheels under each of the rotors, where each side gets adjusted individually.)

If the rotors havn't been changed out at any time, then something else in the mechanism could be broken.

when you change the rotors you usually have to adjust the parking brake just to get the rotor to fit on there.

my car has done this from time to time ever since i bought it 2 years ago. i just release it & pull it up again & it works fine.

Then you are out of adjustment also. If properly adjusted, this should never happen. With being out of adjustment, your parking brakes will not hold as strong as they could otherwise.
