Battery acid on WS6 17" Rims
I own a non-WS6 Trans-am and a good friend of mine who used to own a 2000 WS6 T/A had the original 17's stored at his home. He purchased an 05 GTO after he sold the WS6 T/A. He had no intention of using or selling the WS6 rims and he let me have them.
Here is my problem, when the WS6 rims were stored at his place, a bad car battery was stored on top of the 17's which were stacked. The battery eventually leaked and severely stained 2 wheels. I tried to salvage them with no success.
Is there a way I can salvage this? I can't afford powder coating at this moment. I have thought about sanding them down and painting them with a good wheel paint. Any thoughts?

Strip the clear off chemically, with aircraft remover for example. If you are lucky, the clear was only stained. If the metal is stained also, first go at it with a good metal polish like Mother's Billet. Again, if lucky, that'll take it out. If not, then its wet sanding and re-polishing time. get some good paper like 3M brand. Try 2000 grit first. Soak the paper in water with a bit of dish soap for a couple hours, then have at it. Not much pressure, let the paper do the work, and keep it well lubed. If that appears to remove the problem, then go back at it with the Mother's Billet which will take the 2000 grit out and bring it back up to a polish. Unfortunately you'll have an uncleared wheel which will need to be maintained, but you can always see if you can get a body shop to re-clear them quick for cheap.
If you want them powder coated, natually PM me
