Exclamation 3-point subframes to a 2 point??? Can I cut them

I have a 2001 Trans Am that is a all out drag car now. My question is, I have UMI three point Sub franme conectors (#2004) and was wondering if I cut off the third point and made them a two point and welded them in, if I would loose the support I need for racing. I could use the extra room for exhaust and a little weight savings.

Please let me know what you think and what you guys are using.

I can somewhat understand the extra room you are looking for to fit an exhaust under the car.

BUT as far as removing some extra structural integrity for a 2lbs weight savings, just leave it alone and go take an exlax. Surely to god you can remove that same weight somewhere else in your car, that I bet you my own car on...
