Highest hp on 427?
Ok, my dad talked to some guy at his neighbor's house this weekend with a vette not sure if it was c5 or c6. But anyway it's got a n/a 427 that he claims to have 900 hp. It's a black vette with black wheels and was shop built. Has lots 2 nitrous bottles in the back and 2 quart container under the hood with race gas in it. So he's running on pump gas and still has a/c and such. Is this even possible? I say maybe with a big shot, but not just straight motor.

SAM( School of Automotive Machinist) built a 1000hp na LS motor for their race car. So yes its possible to make that kind of power but I doubt the vette in question is making that number without the bottle. Maybe there was a misunderstanding in the conversation? 900HP with the bottle is not that hard to accomplish.

900 all motor on a 427 is pretty hard to do if not impossible. Some other factors need to be cleared up.
900 on a 427 with any power adder is pretty easy, well not easy, but a little money and it's done quite easily....

I can see it making that power on the bottle. ~600 on motor and ~300 with a dedicated fuel system and a ~300 shot isn't hard to believe. I have a buddy that had a Z28 and a 383 with a Nitro Daves dedicated fuel system with direct port that was putting out pretty good power.

the 2008 set up for our '99 Camaro was a 427ci C5R, it was making around 940HP N/A to the flywheel. The new set up for 2009 has a 433ci LSX block w/ C5R Heads and we made 1001HP N/A to the flywheel. Its possible to do, but not streetable what so ever.

900 n/a is possible but not streetable out of a 427. If he has 900 hp on the gas that is very easy. But I doubt he can use it.Thats a lot of power for a 3200 lb. car.Trust me.

Hey y'all thanks for the help. This guy is wanting to drive this car to the Texas Mile, which is a good drive from here, so it is streetable. Also on the track he said it went 11.1 with a 2.5 60', which I wasn't really impressed with. So yeah I think my dad heard wrong I think it's 900 on the bottle. Or he was just running his mouth and thought no one would know better.

900hp with a 427 is possible. It all depends on how much money this guy spent. are you sure maybe this car wasnt boosted? There are a lot of Z06's with forcedinduction out there with well over 800hp.

Yeah the car had a high trap speed, don't remember exactly. There was for sure no boost on the car of any kind. Mostly I was just asking if 900 hp was possible on a streetable car. I don't keep up with the big motors since that's way out of my price league anyhow. Most of the n/a cars I found that were streetable were in the 600 range.
Carfax i believe it is Powell's car, you know him?
