My wife is always happy to bring up the total expenses for my car from when we started using quicken until present. I bought it new in 98 & prolly have over $30k in mods that she knows about.

About 55 grand last time I added it all up. In the beginning, I did get hosed by going to a shop that I never should have... ended up eating about 2 grand there, that and I used to have all the work done, in the beginning, which the labor adds up fast.
If i had done everything on my own, that I can currently do with confidence, and had I not made the mistake of going to the first shop I went to, I'd probably have saved about 6 to 7 grand off that total.
Seems like alot.. but when you buy the car new with 16 miles on it and may 26 for it, that's a big chunk of $ right off the bat.

If you can find what you're looking for with used parts, that can save you a TON of $. Guys like me sell parts that might be a season old, and are generally in very good shape. I know I don't sell ANYTHING if it's not in good working order, good enough so I would put it back on my car.
I"ve bought some stuff used over the years, and it never served me badly, when you can, it's a good way to save some $

I'm with ya'll, far too much money and not enough out of it. I've had to pay to play and to keep the monte as a daily driver. I know that I've paid alot in performanc,e and many are things that are "used" realy have lower miles and all. if I had to guess, the price of the car itself was about 6k, and the rest of the stuff for it was about 15-18k, and I still need to redo the suspension again, as well as the pain t again and some better tires.
