Midwest 3400 w/ 2.0 str w/ 3.42 gears
I was wondering if a midwest 3400 w/ a 2.0 str with 3.42 gears is to much for a daily driver, and how will it do on the street with some nitto drag radials. Also what about at the track.
also i was thinkg about a TCI 3500 w/ a 2.5 str, but i think that will be to muc for the street.......
What do you all think?

I have the same converter (MW 3400 2.0TC). 3.23 rear end, if i stomp on it i'll lose it and the back end will slide out (street tires) . Do you mostly race on the street or track? If you run nittos all the time then 2.5 should be ok on the street. I haven't ran my converter on nittos but will as soon as the tires i have now so my experience is only on street tires.

i just put in a 3200 2.0 midwest...if you are gonna run n/a get something higher like a 3600/3800...
the only reason i got a 3200 is because eventually im gonna spray from the line ~my stall speed...
ive had it it in a day and two nights...its no sweat...a little different, but as far as streetability, go bigger trust me and the many others that get a lower stall rpm and end up swapping out for higher stalls...
as for my 3200...partial acceleration the rpm just hovers around 3k through all the first 3 gears then drops down around 40 or so in OD...
im guessing with a 3600/3800 you will probably hover around 3200-3400...really it not bad at all...go bigger

Any type of aftermarket converter is going to burn some tires as for driveabilty on the street both those converters are pretty good ,but since you are going 342s , I would go with the TCI 3500 it will give you a pretty good shift extension and a good launch with your mods and Nittos.

Thanks guys......
will it be hard to launch it on the street with nitto's with that big of an str?
I mostly street race in this car, I may as well run nitto's all the time, better traction and can get about the same mileage im gettin out of my street tires now...
dad bought me and my bro a wrecked 99 z-28, were are building it to drag race, we are are gonnna go with about a 4500 stall in it, with a ford 8.8 and a 409 stroker

I'd go with the TCI3500. It will work great at the track, will be nice to drive on the street, and if it hits to hard for your traction, just use a little less throttle. It just takes a little practice to learn to gage your traction. That converter was good for 1.61 60 fts with 3.23 gears for me.
