Default What kind of steel is the 98 tanks made out of?

I am trying to put a bulk head fitting on a tank with a sump so I can run a 4303 pump with -12 fittings. I dont want to get a small after market tank off of summit or jegs if I can find a 98 tank and weld the stuff on it that I need. I just dont know what kind of steel the tank is made out of so I can do this and or use it for E-85 or 100% alcohol. Has anyone tried using there plastic tank for long time use with e-85 and looked into there filter or anything to see if the tank is staying together? Any info or anything is welcome. Thanks, C. J.

plain steel with a coating to stop it from rusting clean it good and you weld solder or braze to it they all stick, the e85 will not eat the plastic tank did one with a bulkhead fitting and teflon seal worked great.

Thanks bob for the info! I was going to use my plastic tank bu there was no sump. So I thought that I might be able to use the 98 tanks and mig or tig a sump on it with the right fittings.

Will I need to re coat the tank or can I leave it alone and run the alcohol in it?

I just had a sump welded in that I bought from summit. I have 3 -10 fittings coming out of it as well.
