Hey im puttin a 2000 LS1 engine in my 95 z28 M6 camaro and the harness that came with the engine was out of a A4 firebird. I have the tranny plus the PCM, maybe we could swap PCMs cause i dont know if i can use my computer with the M6?? Idk just puttin it out there, we need some other opinions in here..

You have to wire it all up properly to where it works..and to be honest with you it's a pain in the ***. There are Switches on the Pedals, aswell as a big mess of it doing the Center Console.

That's assuming you are going with a 4L60E.

Are you keeping that LS setup a Manual? If so you will need the LS1 T56, and have to convert that Auto Harness over to a M6.

Well you will need a PCM, and an Auto Harness.

Why don't you want a T56?

im with the merv on this one, why do u want to swap to a A4?????? ive been trying since last year to gather parts for a m6 lol. in my opinion the m6 is the way to go. if you cant drive it just learn it. trust me, you have the better tranny set up now. unless ur doing drag racing a lot which u shldnt get a 4l60e anyway stay with the manual

if you have to swap to auto, forget the 4l60e. Its absolutely garbage. The t56 holds up a ton better (if you are a half *** good driver). if you're going auto get a 4l80e, or just sell your car for a auto.

If this turns into another M6 vs A4 thread, it's over. These are getting so old that Jesus himself is getting mad.

THERE IS NO "BETTER" TRANS. THE A4 IS JUST AS GOOD AND USEFUL AS THE M6 DEPENDING ON PERSONAL TASTE. Overall, the T56 drivetrain will not hold up any better (stock for stock) than a 4L60E. If you want to hold real power with either one, you'll have to either build the auto or get a new clutch & rear for the manual. Your 10-bolt will last much longer (and into much higher power levels) with the auto, with a manual the 10-bolt is at risk even at stock power levels.

The OP asked about what is needed to swap. That is where this thread needs to go.

The M6 vs A4 battle is over.

I was asking why he didn't want to go with the T56 since the car is currently setup for that..there is no battle here..lol

I've got no problem telling him what he needs to do, I was just asking if he was willing to go through that nightmare of wiring..

I have been driving stick for the past 3 years in orlando traffic. im fed up with it. So i want a Auto, I'm trading my harness and t56 stuff for a a4 harness and other stuff also. I just gotta find a 99 pcm for a auto car.

but what i think i need is

TC
Dipstick and tube
Trans
Center console
pcm
wiring harness
crossmember
shifter
what else is there

plus i bought the car as a roller but comes with everything but motor tranny and pcm. so i want a auto because it is cheaper. t56 used go for 600+ i found this auto for 400

You have the Tranny Cross Member?

Also you are going to need the Wiring Connector for the Switch on the Auto Shifter, aswell as the diagrams and the extra wire to install all the proper circuits.

You will need every bit of Auto Wiring to run the Auto..nothing can be skipped. I'm tellin ya it's a nightmare.. I built my own LS Swap Harness, and I won't go through the trouble of installing an Auto.

What do you mean by lockout?
