Default Having problems connecting with EDIT

I had to buy a USB to Serial adapter for my laptop to use with edit, when i try to flash the PCM it gave me a "Connection Failed" and then i went and changed the COM port from 1 to 3 and then it tries to "establish communication with pcm" and it just keeps re-trying but never connects? can anyone tell me what is going on? Oh and we have already flashed the pcm once and changed just a few things with a buddys laptop, but that shouldnt have anything to do with it right?

Nope.

What brand USB adapter? A lot of ppl have problems with Belkin. As read on the user manual and software, it does not support USB, but there are some adapters that work very well. I posted this on LS1edit.com and ppl say the belkin may work with some brands, and setups, but normally only one in particular came out as no problem reported.

I use Keyspan with my unlimited Edit version.Sometimes I do get the fail to connect.I just unplug the cable from the computer and car then reconnect and try again, that ussually works.
