Default 1999 Corvette reverse went out.

I have a 99 C5 6 speed vette. Today just randomly the reverse went out. When put in reverse the trans just acts like it is in neutral. Has anyone had this problem before?

Have you taken it on the street since Rev stopped, to see if you still have 5 & 6 or not?

Very odd to lose Rev completely. Has it been grinding for a while? Anything odd happen when trying to engage Rev when it failed?

Dang... You sheared the extension shaft engagement teeth off of the countershaft.. Gonna need a complete teardown and a new countershaft..

I've seen it happen most often on vehicles that run under power (racing) in 5th gear. The stronger versions of the T56 (Viper, LS7, SSR, T6060, etc.) have a 1pc countershaft to eliminate it as a weak link.
