Foam in the tank?
I am curious. I just bought a tank that is rated at 16 gal. It has foam in it and my question is, Does the foam lower the capacity at all? My guess is yes but by a tiny bit that you can't hardly measure. This is simple a question of curiosity. I don't need a ton of capacity so foam is staying in for all it does for sloshing.

Does anyone agree with taking it out? Everyone I have asked about foam in the tank say do it so the fuel doesn't slosh. I have heard of it falling apart but only with alcohol I thought. Anyone have problems with there foam?

I've seen a couple people have issues with the foam deteriorate yes.
Simple way to not be concerned with the sloshing, is don't allow the tank to get more then 1/2 way down/empty. Example, I'm planning on putting a 3 gallon jaz promod fuel cell in the nose of my car. It has the foam in it. I will yank that right out before it ever sees fuel, and I will top it off after each run, or every other run depending on the fuel comsumption.
If I could get a solid # on the amount of fuel a bottom 8 second car will consume (gas not alcohol) I'd opt for an even smaller tank, possibly a 2 gallon.
Way I see it with a drag car, if you are going to burn a gallon in a run say, I see no reason to carry more then 2. This way you have plenty if you get stuck in the lanes/have to idle the car a bit or something, and the less fuel you carry, the less there is to burn should you have a fitting leak or a fire break out. Less weight too.

It mostly is driven to and from the track, but yes it gets driven on the street on a rare occasion. I run premium fuel and race fuel at the track for the nitrous. If I am correct premium has no ethanol in it. I will keep an eye on the foam and filter, but i think I will leave it in. Being a 16 gallon it might be half full at the track and often less. So the foam will help me out. Are there any problems running a filter in front of a walbro 255?

I don't like running filters before the pump... but there's plenty of people that do it.
I don't know where you live, but the ethanol is in ALL the gas, even premium. Unless you're on a strict race gas only fuel regiment, I wouldn't leave the foam in.
Or, just put an 8 gallon cell in the truck, so if you leave it 1/2 full like I suggested it won't be that much weight, and just put 2 5 gallon gas cans in the bed for the ride to and from the track, if 8 gallons won't get you there. Street driving it too, just leave a 5 gallon can in the back of the truck. Strap it in the corner of the bed, good to go.
