Default 6 speed

well ill be looking at around 600-650 horse power to the wheels by the end of the week my question is how much horse power will my 6speed t56 handle, would i have to worry about anything????? i dotn rag on the tranny that much every now and then ina street race and wenever we can hit the track which is maybe like once or twice a month due to we dont have a track near by and the closes 2 tracks are two housr away ...any information would really help alot thanx in advanced

Try an Advance Search, power levels have been hashed out ad-nauseum.

450lb-ft is stock, but 600 can be handled if not abused. Car weight will also affect it.

Typically the aftermarket upgrades can push it close to 700 and then the viper upgrade should be looked at beyond that.

The trans itself will easily take 600-650HP. Its the wearable components that you need to give your attention to, such as fork pads, synchro keys, blocker rings, and shift forks. If you beat on it with that kind of power, those components will need to be upgraded.
