Default new alternator.

ok i dont knwo whats up with it. in the mornings volts are cool and stay where they normally should all the way to work. after work though and at night volts drop down to red almost every time i hit a bump. i check cables and only thing i could find was ground wire was a little loose so i tightened that yet it still does it. could there be something i missed or would i need another alternator. need to know fast before i break down on the side of the road.

thanks guys.

have you had your battery or alternator bench tested? its usually free at your local autoparts stores and will give you a good start. At night, you've got more of a draw on your alt due to your lights and whatnot. If the battery's weak and the alts struggling to keep it charged, there's your extra draw and cause of your volts being low. but it could also being a tired alt on its way out. won't know without a test
