When you paint brake rotors (to avoid them going rusty looking), do you:
- also paint the rim-hub mating surface...?
- also paint the edge (where the rotor vents are)...?

You can if you want. When I did my calipers, I didn't take the time to paint those areas. If you show the car with the wheel off, than that would be a nice touch.

Those steering knuckles look great! Are they powder coated? If so where or how did you get it done?

Fantastic job!

I just bought some Koni 4/4's and I was thinking of doing the same thing. Was going to swap out my O'Reilly rotors and pads and paint them right this time and I wanted to do something to the knuckles. Can't believe how good that looks with Gloss Black, did you prime also? Did you just leave the knuckle on and mask everything down?

Sorry for all the questions, but I want mine to look exactly like this.

How far inside the disc vents did you paint...?

Did you paint the "other" side of the disc (where it mates to the hub)...?

Paint the outer edge (try to shoot down into the vanes as much as possible), the backside inner edge, and the center hub tring to avoid the wheel mating surface. Several coats of high temp or brake drum and rotor paint will keep them looking great for a long time.

After you finished painting your upper control arm and you install it, do you torque the bushing nuts with the car resting on the suspension (i.e. wheel is in at-rest position with car's weight on the suspension)...?

If so, how do you get your arms and tools in there (since car is lowered) to do this, there doesn't seem to be enough room to turn the torque wrench...?

Oh, you do it from underneath...?

Yes, the upper arms and the mount bracket comes off as an assembly...

I am re-bushing the upper arms so I have them dismantled from the mount bracket...

I did mine with VHT brake and caliper spray paint, I think it was the Aluminum color. I think the light silver helps give it a really clean look and Its been holding strong for a year. I just masked off the clamping area leaving about 1/8" - 1/4" of the clamping area exposed right before it reaches the hub, and let the brake pad cut the paint to a sharp perfectly concentric line when I drove the car. I've heard of people not masking off the rotor at all and letting the brake pad clean off the paint, but it isn't that much work to lay down a little tape.

Does anyone have the write up on painting the rear cal and brakets i dont wont to take out the seals and do all that work i jsut wont to paint it to make it look good you know.
