Default steering wheel "play"?

Hope its in the right section.

I recently purchased a 01 camaro ss, and noticed their is somewhat of "play" on the steering wheel before the front wheels begin to move. How could this be fixed? Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem. I wonder if the steering rack is just worn out. If there is a free mod out there, I definitely want to hear about it.

Could also be the rag joint in the steering column. Especially if you have headers that seems to cook them. Search rag joint eliminator if you think that is your issue for a cheap easy fix......

Try the steering shaft fix mentioned but it is probably the rack. They're notorious for shitting the bed and the repops never seem to last as long as the factory original.
