LT1 to LS swap questions
i'm looking at buying a 94 Z28. i want to do a LS swap but not sure on what i will need to do the project. the car has a 6 speed. here in MA everything 95 and older (pre OBDII) doesn't have an emissions test. i would rather swap the motor instead of buying a 98-02.
what parts are needed to do this conversion?
also what parts are needed to convert the nose to a 98-02?
i'm not sure on what motor i'm going to go with yet. i was thinking about going with a 5.3L just because it might be easier to find and be cheaper.

The 6spd in the car will not work unless modified but its more cost effective to sell it and buy the one you need. You will need the k-frame, steering rack and shaft, complete motor with front drive accessories, wiring harness & pcm, complete transmission including clutch, flywheel, hydraulics. If you went the 5.3L route remember that you would need an intake manifold, oilpan/windage tray, pickup tube and f-body wiring harness. More info in the link in my sig.

thanks for info.
i drove a 2000 T/A yesturday with a ls1 6speed and didn't like the car. i hate not being able to see the hood (i'm 5'7). so i'll probably go with a 3rd gen camaro instead. i also heard that is an easier swap. now i'm on the hunt for my 4th, 3rd gen camaro (only one of them was crashed).

I dont see how a 3rd gen would be any easier. You still need all of the assorted LS parts. No getting around that. Hell Im 6'3 and cant see most of the damn hood on my car. But I guess if its what you want go for it. Personally I would avoid the six speed. Go drive a auto Ls1 and see what you think.

The 3rd Gen will be a pain in the ***..a 4th Gen will be alot easier.
I swapped mine and I'm enjoying it..

Why in the world would you want a 3rd gen over a 4th???
