I used the mounting pad from the origional 8.8 driveshaft it fit perftectly on the u joint from my aluminum driveshaft that was origionally in my Iroc.
I hope this makes sense.

I installed a shortened driveshaft from a 2001 Tahoe in my '49 GMC with 8.8 Ford using a spicer type rear u-joint (Neapco 2-1569). Lot of Chevy trucks used this rear u-joint, so you should be able to buy one most anywhere.

8.8 ujoint flanges come in 2 ujoint sizes:
1330 - 97 up explorers
1310 - old style boxy explorers
Flange on axle is the same so either will work on your axle, easy find in junkyards.
Not sure what ujoint fbodys use, but now you are halfway to finding the bastard ujoint you need.
